Blake came the classical piano and in 1956 Jeanne Lee who knows him closer to jazz, blessed woman, with her creates a duo and one of the most indefinable albums in the history of jazz 'The Newest Sound Arround'. Since the seventies plays with Ricky Ford, incidentally, he brings his sax to this 'Chabrol Noir' on some issues and happens to live in Europe.

Blake is a very sensitive musician, a teacher who always seeks to modify, rend, fragmenting and simplify the issues and transplanting them to a new world tonalities, very personal and diametrically opposed to the original. Among his influences recognized Thelonious Monk, George Russell and Gunther Schuller and the world of classical Bela Bartok, Igor Stravinsky and Charles Ives.

In this 'Chabrol Noir' we found 17 sound 'notes' drinking from the films of French director Claude Chabrol, especially focusing on 'Les Bonnes Femmes', 'Le Boucher' and 'La Rupture' whose soundtracks were signed by Pierre Jansen.

Among the original songs of Blake incorporating elements of these soundtracks themes of Brahms 'Vier Ernste Gesange', popular as 'Wedding Singer', music by Max Roach 'Garvey's Ghost' or Abbey Lincoln 'Love Laments' and intercalate some French music as 'Les Grognards' Hubert Giraud and Pierre Ahead 'who once sang Edith Piaf and' Watch what Happens 'film "the Umbrellas of Cherbourg' the great Michel Legrand.

Music as always terse, to the point, searching for essences. Is more minimalist than in the previous installment, Blake seems to have no time to lose, but it is equally interesting.
