The twin brothers Maxime Sanchez (piano player) and Adrien Sanchez (saxophone player) first decide in 2005 to create a trio with the drummer Gautier Garrigue. Three years later, after the meeting of the two brothers and Florent Nisse (bass player) at the Paris Conservatory (CNSM), the trio turns into a quartet and the name « Flash Pig » is chosen. The quartet decides to play mainly Maxime’s compositions, and works since its birth on a music in which all members of the band can find freedom.

Along with the first concerts of the quartet, Flash Pig is distinguished by winning first prize at Siofok International Jazz Contest (Hungary) in 2009 and second prize at Trophées du Sunside in Paris in 2010. In 2014, after having toured regularly in many festivals and clubs, Flash Pig records on French label Plus loin Music his first album entitled “Remain Still”, very warmly received by the press. The same year the band starts an artistic residency at the jazz club “Les Disquaires” in Paris, and has the opportunity to invite great musicians like Chris Cheek, Pierre de Bethmann, Manu Codjia, Logan Richardson, or Emile Parisien to join the quartet. In 2015, Flash Pig wins first prize at European Jazz Contest in Rotterdam, and therefore plays at prestigious North Sea Jazz Festival. At the end of 2015, the quartet also records his second album. New album was released in May 27, 2016.

Flash Pig’s music is open and without compromise, but also claims the legacy of a certain tradition of the jazz, from Keith Jarrett and all the free jazz scene of the 7O’s (Paul Motian, Charlie Haden, Ornette Coleman, Dewey Redman, Jan Garbarek) to contemporary jazz artists, both from the north-European and the New-York scene.
