Marika Ling was born in Wolverhampton, England. At the age of 8, her passion for singing became apparent when she began singing gospel in her local church choir. It was here and in the coming years she would discover her true love for singing and music.

She began her career as a session singer, headlining festivals alongside the likes of The Sounds Of Blackness and Courtney Pine. Later, becoming involved with A New Funky Generation she worked closely with producer Richard Frost creating hits with Labumba, and the classic The Messenger, later to be covered by various artists including Santana. Also during this time Marika worked with artists such as Joy Rose and sang on a number of Cafe Del Mar albums finding her evolve and move closer to the forefront as a solo artist.

Over the next decade, Marika toured live fronting a number of soul funk bands, mainly Stone Soul Picnic and Evolution, broadening her experience and finding her rightful place at the front of the stage.

As a solo artist, Marika continued to work with producers Richard Frost and Steve Baker with The Friday People in collaboration with The Sound Of Everything to release her current single Tears.

Finaly, her long awaited debut solo album is here! Through collaborating with co-writers and producers Steve Baker and Adam Banaszkiewicz, a unique contrast of musicianship has developed into a tasty melting pot of genres and musical styles with Marika's voice weaving and melding through the music with a soul and vibrancy that's up there with the greats.

Organic and earthy, big and powerful, soulful with a smattering of the funk, this album delivers it all.

Marika continues to move forward musically with a tenacity and drive to develop a distinct and dazzling vocal style that can only be described as... Marika Ling.
