Kjell Gustavsson is an old school band leader. The kind you rarely see nowadays. Like the classic jazz and rhythm & blues band leaders. Duke Ellington, Dizzie Gillespie, Roy Milton, Johnny Otis. All of them ran their band with a firm hand and even if the bands were crowded with brilliant musicians and vocalists, it was all about the orchestra.
Despite hiding behind his set of drums, Kjell Gustavsson is the undisputed leader of the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, don't be tempted to thing otherwise. He's the musical conductor, main songwriter and arranger. He's in charge of rehearsals, gigs and recordings.
»Jungle« is the fifth album by Kjell Gustavsson Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and it offers the same wonderful mix of rhythm & blues, soul, New Orleans funk, rock 'n' roll and cajun as its acclaimed predecessors. Just a bit more refined and perfected with each attempt.
This music is hard to resist. It will make you laugh and cry. It will make you feel the soul and make you dance, in the bar, in the living room, in the office or in the car. However, we suggest you park the car before trying your more wild moves.
There are plenty of highlights on »Jungle«. Listen to the opening rhythm explosion »Concrete Jungle«, the magnificent duet »When I Saw You« featuring Tove Gustavsson and John Domarhed or the cajun rocker »Real Cajun Woman«. Irresistable, right?
