One Week Later (OWL) was formed in 2012 by Jane S Broughton and Richard M Smith both previously members of Jariss.
Richard came from a predominantly Indie background and had previously written songs and played guitar in a number of bands.
Jane's musical roots were really in the folk/country scene but she too loved the Indie/Alternative sound, not millions of miles away from progressive folk.
Jane and Richard had known each other for sometime through a racquet sports club but were not aware that both were writing and arranging music until another club member made the connection. So they decided to try and collaborate there two different approaches to see where it took them. This led to the formation of "Jariss" in 2010, a folk/country/indie duo.
Jariss released two albums from 2010 to 2012, namely "Jariss" and "Soft Focus". Both albums were recorded quickly with little planning or direction just to see how it all combined. The main focus of Jariss was melodic vocals and an easy going song structure and sound.
Towards the end of recording the Soft Focus album it was becoming obvious that they were getting a better understanding of writing together and thus a change of name and a radical direction was needed to reflect this.
OWL focuses on writing material they love and feel happy performing. Richard writes, records and arranges all the instrumentation for each song, whilst Jane writes the lyrics and concentrates on melody and harmony.
