The idea of the Distintivo Blue appeared around July 2009 in Vitória da Conquista, when I Malforea, Romulo Fonseca and Camilo Oliveira, former members of the band The New Old Jam decided to start a blues project. How hard to find blues musicians in the region, chose to keep the acoustic format (voice / harmonica / 2 guitars) as seek other members. They did some tests using the provisional name of Distintivo Blue until Romulo left the band, when the name Distintivo Blue had already been adopted.

As a double was even more difficult to make the project move forward. Malforea decided to call some of the city's rock scene musicians to do an experiment. then came Fernando Bernardino (guitar), of Radio Zero and later Os Barcos, Dieguinho (bass), of Ladrões de Vinil and Garboso and Thomaz Oliveira (drums), the former The New Old Jam and Coffee Com Blues. The first concert was on January 22, 2010. Soon after, Camille decides to leave the group. Thomaz, which would only make the first show did not continue with the group.

Immediately after the first show, they record Luar do Pontal music, authored by I. Malforea composed for The New Old Jam, but never executed. The song enters the CD Mafia da Mortadela, a collection of Brazilian blues bands with songs in Portuguese, where DB is the only representative from outside the Rio-São Paulo axis. With this song the band has become better known outside their city inside. Today several radio stations in Brazil to perform. Thanks to the internet.

Find certain members for the DB was always the biggest challenge. Many musicians not used to play in the style blues consider easy to play, but when faced with the harsh reality discover that without feeling there is no blues. Throughout 2010 DB changed musicians several times, mainly by the lack of blues musicians in the region. At all have played in the group 16 different people.
