Seattle based singer/songwriter Tekla Waterfield calls on a wide range of influences, including folk, country, rock and soul, fitting neatly into the wider genre of Alt-Country or Americana. Tekla's vocals are smooth and angelic, emotive and raw. Her songs explore universal life themes of life and experiencing life. Influences ranging from Tom Waits, to Gillian Welch, Neko Case, Phosphorescent, Mazzy Star, Sera Cahoone, Wilco and more.

Tekla's band, Tekla Waterfield and the Sweet Nothings features Bill Riach on drums, Jacqui Sandor on bass and backing vocals, Mike Thornhill on lead guitar, and Charles Wicklander on keys/vocals. Sometimes other people join in on the fun too. (Jarrett Mason, Andy Lowe, David Salonen, Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews, Jill Zirkle and more.)

Aside from the band stuff, Tekla teaches through STYLE, (Songwriting Through Youth Literature Education) and Rain City Rock Camp for girls, is a member of the Seattle chapter of the Bushwick Book Club, (a group of artists who create work based on literature and put on shows around town), is a guest vocalist with the Seattle Rock Orchestra, is a regular performer at the SeaTac airport as a part of the Experience the City of Music program and is a long-time open mic host, currently at the Bourbon Bar inside the Columbia City Theater Tuesdays. Tekla is also a frequent featured live and recording vocalist with various side projects and collaborations.
