On the 13th of November 2015 Anna-Karin Westerlund makes her solo debut with the album ”Brain Ghosts and Goosebumps”.

”A Brain Ghost is a figment of one's imagination which occurs as a result of one's brain filling in gaps of information unnecessarily. They can be sights, sounds, tactile sensations, or even an uncomfortable feeling of a presence.”

Anna Karenina is constantly led astray by her brain ghosts. She lets them take her to the gap between the fiction of the mind and the facts of real life. When reality bursts her bubble, she is left with a feeling of both relief and sadness. And then she writes a song about it.

Anna Karenina is Anna-Karin Westerlund's creative alter ego, and ”Brain Ghosts and Goosebumps” is her debut album as a singer and composer. In producing and recording this album she collaborated with guitarist Jesper Lundquist (Music Is The Weapon). Anna-Karin has a background in jazz and choir music and a flair for the theatrical, and Jesper has a background in afro beat and psychedelic pop, and both with a mutual soft spot for the sound of pop music in the 60’s and 70’s. This resulted in an album with thoroughly worked through arrangements that create a dramatic musical world with many layers. It is pop music painted on a big canvas with a lot of details and colors. Every song is built to be a sound universe of its own, with strong focus on the voice and telling a story with both words and harmonies. The music bears a resemblance to the musical language of Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell and Björk.
