Austin, TX, a city with a deep and rich musical history. From Stevie Ray Vaughan to the arc angels and more recently Bob Schneider and Gary Clark Jr. Austin has seen its share of rising stars. A city that has become a melting pot of musical styles and the Lone Star State’s home to some of its finest musicians. Now this melting pot has given rise to Austin’s newest band, BIG CAT.
Malford Milligan says it best “The first time we all got together it was just for fun, recording a track for the All ATX CD. In the studio it just clicked so we kept on recording and before you know it we have a complete album. Everything seemed so natural and with these musicians I was inspired and excited. We know how to play the blues but this band has some serious energy that will knock you out.”
Front man and vocalist Malford Milligan is no stranger to the Austin music scene. As a member Storyville (The Double Trouble Rhythm section of Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon along with guitarists David Grissom and David Holt) they released two critically acclaimed albums on Atlantic Records and dominated the Austin Music Scene the late nineties. In 2015 Malford was voted Male Vocalist of the Year at The Austin Chronicle Music Awards. His powerful voice and raw energy can put an audience into a sweat soaked frenzy!
With the addition of Roscoe Beck on bass the musical pedigree doesn’t miss a beat. Roscoe moved to Austin in 1971 where he met and played with Eric Johnson and soon after formed an R&B/fusion band called "Passenger". After having shuffled between Austin and Los Angeles for a year, Beck was asked to play on Leonard Cohen's album "Recent Songs". The experience led him to start working as a record producer, and in 1986 he produced Jennifer Warnes' Grammy-nominated album "Famous Blue Raincoat". Roscoe is back in Austin and now an integral part of Big Cat.
In a career spanning 35 years, guitarist, songwriter and producer Dave Sebree has performed throughout the US, Canada and Europe. His former band, Native Sun, was awarded Best Jazz Band by the Austin Chronicle for an unprecedented four consecutive years. As a guitarist and producer, Dave has worked with such stylistically diverse artists as Eric Johnson, Double Trouble, Vallejo, Fastball, Bob Schneider and the legendary jazz trumpeter Clark Terry, to name a few. As the founder of The Austin School of Music Dave has made a major contribution in helping generations of younger Austinites find their own musical talents.
The rock steady drumming of Les Fisher is second nature to a man who is a second-generation star of the skins. He grew up in Grand Rapids, MI listening to his drummer dad. Les's crisp vocals and songwriting talent got a jump-start from his mother, an accomplished jazz singer. If you close your eyes, it’s hard to believe that the soulful and smooth voice that you are hearing is coming from the same man that you see laying down the groove. Most recently Les has toured with Jason Mraz, Randy Jacobs and his L.A based band, The Boneshakers, Brothers Johnson and George Lopez.
Born and raised in Pavia, Italy, keyboardist Stefano Intelisano has found a new home in Austin, TX. Stefano grew up with a solid classical piano and organ education and soon after hit the road with some truly talented musicians backing singer/songwriter Patty Griffin, with Latin pop-star Cristian Castro and recently with music icon Jason Mraz, all Grammy winning artists.
