Renowned actress (she starred with George Clooney among others), Irina Björklund is also a soundtrack composer and a singer. After several years in America, she returned to France and released a new album. She translated Finnish songs from very diverse backgrounds into French, which were then arranged by Marc Collin in the ""Nouvelle Vague"" pop style. Released in France in April 2014, the album got was prasied by the musical medias: ""Somptuous and clever"" - Start Up // ""Charming cocktail"" - L'Express // ""A must-discover"" - Télérama // ""A jewel of a song which sparkled of the blue"" - France Inter ""Like so many countries, Finland has an array of songs that can almost be called national treasures - songs that the people of our country have grown up with, danced to on their wedding day, listened to 1000 times on the radio on a specific summer, or road trip that bring back memories. In 2 words - great melodies and texts, that stick with us forever. However, these melodies rarely get shared with the world, due to a language barrier. I grew up in France, but have my roots in Finland. I felt a strong need to take on the mission of sharing the pearls of our culture with the world, and started translating a selection of my own favorites to French. Marc Collin and Liset Alea/Nouvelle Vague agreed to produce the album - and my Finnish band set off on a trip to Paris to create a magical, multicultural coproduction putting our national treasures under a new light, that I could never have imagined possible.
