Talk about pouring one’s soul into and all over a project, young Armenian-born keyboardist, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer. Vahagn Vahagn StepanyanStepanyan presents this debut gem, Moonlight, with the gratitude and fervor you know he’s been waiting to unleash for a long time.

Just who is Vahagn Stepanyan, you ask? Just an accomplished artist who has collaborated with a host of artists throughout the years through studio work, tours, and writing, including Eric Marienthal, Nathan East, Don Moen, and Greg Adams.

From the sassy lead track, “Gonna Fly,” and on throughout the album, this young man delivers mighty jazz, pop, and R&B melodies and rhythms meant to rouse that groove beast in you. In addition, as evidenced by tracks like “true Love” and “Passion,” the album is in way short on romance, class, and sophistication.

Stepanyan offers all original grooves and features such notable artists as saxman Eric Marienthal and a host of other extremely gifted contributors.

Obviously possessing a high-powered work ethic to go with his polished sound, here’s an artist from whom we can expect to hear much– and often.
An album full of warmth, funk, and body, you will do well to give this one a chance. It’s truly a wonderful debut by which to introduce himself, and Stepanyan certainly does his part to reassure us that the genre will remain relevant for years to come. – Ronald Jackson
