Bumper 70-minute cassette of broad and weird cross-terrain hybrid house and techno from “left-handed” Okayama producer Keita Sano who spent his early years with Jazz and studied ceramic spinning for a short spell in Okinawa. Now he uses MPC, Electribe-SX, an old MTR, and a lot of effector to make music. Jazz music still inspires him, though this dense blend of electronics doesn’t bear so many signs of it other than a distinct free-ness and constant sense of melody.

“Onion Slice” is a cut up jungle build-up to miniature epic synth swells; “Search” has a 100bpm reggae plod with crunched out reverberant drums and vocal snippets; “Escape to Bronx” takes on classic acid vibes and “African Blue” is a loose, percussive throwback club groove that harnesses the general ecstasy of Sano’s joyous experimentation.

Noise is often present across this collection of moods and genres, coming to particular focus in harsh textural waves on “Everybody Does It” and on title track “Holding New Cards”. This compendium of recent work also muses on notions of general noise and saturation, relishing in maximalism with accomplished and innocence.
