My musical career started when I was 10 years old, which is when I got my first instrument: a flute. Soon enough I had an electric organ and an acoustic guitar. At 13 I discovered the bass and got one for my 14th birthday. Four years later an upright bass followed suit. Since then I have been playing both instruments, yet starting in 1982 the E - bass has been my main instrument of choice.
Even before I become one of the founding members of the Klaus Lage Band and became a pop star of sorts in 1984 with the German mega-hit “1000 and 1 Night“ (and later on the Musical Director and the part-time producer of this band), I had already had a whole bunch of touring years under my belt. I had toured all over Europe and had among others played with Herwig Mitteregger, Toto Blanke, Jasper van't Hof, Joachim Kühn, Charlie Mariano, Jan Akkerman, Thijs van Leer (Focus), Helge Schneider and Peter Bursch's Bröselmaschine.

Together with Klaus Lage Band, I have achieved 1 platinum album, 2 golden records and countless awards such as ''Golden Europe,'' ''Band of the Year, '' ''Song of the Year,'' ''Bass Player of the Year,'' and together we have produced the music for both Schimanski cinematic successes, ''A Tooth for a Tooth'' and ''Zabou,'' not to mention more than 180 major TV shows.

I have produced 3 CDs for the most well-known German jazz musician Albert Mangelsdorff, including his most successful album under his name (Listen & Lay Back). I have toured for 6 years with the “Albert Mangelsdorff & Members” project throughout Europe, and was featured on about 25 TV shows.

Not becoming stagnant and continually presenting myself with new musical challenges has always been important to me. For that reason I always try to do as many different things at once as possible. But it always has to be top-notch, either being on the move or containing a special challenge that needs to be overcome. Following this mantra, as one of the 10 most successful producers in 1989, I produced the ''Kennzeichen D'' project for the European Song Contest in 1990.
