Hellhounds are a Melbourne based 3 piece retro-blues rock and roll band. Inspirations from the American blues greats to the psychedelic sound of the 60's. Self-titled debut cd released March 2012.
Despite what you hear in their music, HELLHOUNDS were not brought up in the swamps of Louisiana in the 70ʼs living off nothing but peyote. The band is actually a Melbourne based retro-blues trio founded in St. Kilda. A rare and wonderful collaboration of musical misfits comprising of a rock drummer (Venom), a punk bass player (Bryan Colechin) and blues guitarist Patch (Hellhound) Brown. In meeting, the chemistry between the three was instant and the combination emphatic. HELLHOUNDS energy is reminiscent of bands such as Cream or Band of Gypsies with a sound authentic and honest to that era.
Veterans of the industry, between them HELLHOUNDS have played in bands such as SUPERJESUS, ELECTRIC MARY, NICK BARKER and HUGO RACEʼS TRUE SPIRIT. With their amalgamated styles and combined and extensive knowledge of blues and retrodelic rock history, the powerful trio HELLHOUNDS was born.
