Labeled, whether fairly or unfairly, as "the Rolling Stones of country," Blackjack Billy were formed in 2011 in Nashville by songwriters and singers Rob Blackledge and Noll Billings and songwriter, producer, and recording engineer Jeff Coplan. The three, each of whom had either already started a solo career or garnered publishing deals, or both, met in Nashville and began writing songs together. With bassist Patrick Cornell and drummer Brad Cummings aboard, Blackjack Billy were born, specializing in what the band calls "redneck rock.

Thanks to the platinum selling success of their single “The Booze Cruise,” Blackjack Billy made their mark and created an instant buzz within the country music scene. Their follow-up single “Get Some” continued to hold that buzz for them and they are now set to release their debut project Rebel Yell. Their self-described “high-energy redneck rock” sound is well on display from the moment that you hit play. “Sugar Cane,” their current single, kicks things off and instantly pulls you into the party that they are about to allow us to be a part of. Songs like “Country Curves” will keep you moving, your arms will be in the air waving back and forth with “God’s Country,” while your toes won’t stop tapping off the floor with “Slow Dancing Under The Sheets.” However, wrapped perfectly into the party mix, Blackjack Billy cleverly showcases their very strong songwriting when they take a moment to slow things down on songs like the album closer “Riley Creek” and the ultra-romantic “Working On You.” Sonically, this easily slides alongside any given country act on today’s Top 40, but it also walks along the edge as Southern rock influences and rock based octane is pumped in from time to time helping to give this a familiar, yet unique feel that Blackjack Billy can call their own. It’s easy to see why there is already an incredible buzz surrounding them and with this release they will make the leap to national mainstream radio.
