John F. Klaver is one of the best known representatives of the young generation of Dutch blues musicians. John makes the promise as the great talent in our favorite genre over where with this fourth album along with his band. Already twice became at the Dutch Blues Challenge won the first prize. John is still in development and on the album, his compositional qualities even more rapidly.

A month ago, I was allowed to witness a performance by the Blues Foundation at this band ' Connection ' in the attractive mirror Hall in rows. John describes his music as ' modern day blues with an authentic feel. As I have listened to the album The Edge complete, I can't help feeling that in the guitar playing of John quite a lot of influences of, for example, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton and John Scofield have. And that's a very pleasant conclusion may I say. The jazzy sound in this blues music gives a very warm feeling and phlegmatic that lets you enjoy remains deeply involved.

The album opens with the pleasant organ chords by Bob family of faith UMC. His Hammond B3 organ playing fulfills an essential contribution in the sound of this album. The pleasant vocals of John with still more pleasant backing vocals by Wies Ingwersen are followed by a hearty duet in ' You Make Me Feel So Alive '. ' Just for Kicks ' opens with some jazzy guitar licks and then goes up-tempo on. And again we hear the impressive sound of the Hammond B3, which quite clearly is that the sound of this album for a large portion of the Commission supported by the excellent play of the already mentioned Bob family of faith UMC.

With relaxed taught guitar playing we listen to ' Micha ain't no Bitch ' and your instil very curious who Micah is and how they can see out there. The game of John's never too emphatic or dominate but every now and then even reluctant and phlegmatic. This understated and technically well kept game comes on this whole album with a nice sound better than a live performance I find personally. There you are often with a beer in hand and you fail to notice the details you through listening to the CD from your living room to your installation remotely better. Also in ' Kempner Woman ' we experience a similar experience. Two songs on the album are not from the hand of John Robert Johnson for yourself (32/20 Blues) and John Mayall (Maydell). The rest are all original compositions.
