They call me urban folk but I’m just poor and broke…

You have probably never heard of this man. But my god you wish you had. Born Lookman Adekunle Salami better known as L.A. Salami is a rare breed of musician, who combines beautifully crafted acoustic tracks topped with lyrics that even Dylan would be jealous of. As of October last year he released his debut E.P; titled ‘Another Shade of Blue’ (absolutely stellar debut I must say). And now in a months time we will be graced by more from the urban-folk poet. The 9 track E.P is set to be called ‘The Prelude E.P’, its release will coincide with 9 London shows that L.A is performing; with one song being unveiled at each gig. The tour is almost halfway through, so make sure if your in the area grab a ticket and listen to this genius. With his new E.P close to being released we’re going to take a look at his debut E.P and some other exceptional works of his.

Initially you get hooked through his simplicity, like songs such as ‘Day to Day’. On the top it seems like a simple song. Harmonica, vocals and guitar. But listen more closely and you can hear countless amounts of metaphors being slowly caressed about your ears, effortlessly accompanied by wandering guitar pieces.
