Sidestreet Reny blends bluesy/funky finger-style and slide guitar, original poignant songwriting with the occasional pre-war tune thrown in over Bell's solid hard hitting grooves. He has spent the last 20 years cultivating that "Sidestreet Reny sound". an original eclectic gumbo where delta blues is the main ingredient and touches of the caribbean and the words of the streets are the spices that complete this rootsy stew. Always weary of the traditions he represents, SSR navigates the modern musical landscape with a deep love for all that has come before, while still staying creative and vital, and constantly striving to make proud those who created that very framework on which his music is built.

Reny is the son of a father who died of an overdose when Reny was only 3yrs old and his own battles with drug addiction which subsequently led to an overdose at the age of 13 forsing him to end up in rehab and jail (Juvenile Detention). Kicked out of every school in the surrounding district and a drop out by the age of 14. From sneaking into punk shows to chasing the Grateful Dead at 14 and living on his own in Europe at 16 as a sponsored skater and a rap artist (major label releases with Brian McKnight and Vanessa Williams). Reny has lead the kind of life that deserves to be written about... and that he does, with an honest poetic voice and passionate conviction. From songs about love and hate to art and social commentary to free-form rap lyrics ranging from boastful to political, Sidestreet Reny is truly a troubadour without confines.
