Bluesman Louisiana Red wasn't one of the best-known of modern era artists, but he was one of the best-loved by the blues community. Taking his cue from his own musical idols, artists like Muddy Waters and Lightnin' Hopkins, Louisiana Red forged a lengthy and productive career of quiet elegance based on his powerful vocals and distinctive guitar style. Red's long-time friend and fellow musician Bob Corritore probably said it best, saying of Red, "he could create moods and textures, both musically and spiritually, and had the ability of falling so deep into his own songs that he would go to tears, making his audience cry with him. That was the gift of this great artist."
