On this debut album The Kat has succeeded in recruiting more than a handful of remarkable musicians such as Kenny Neal (guitar) and Jean-Jacques Milteau (harmonica), as well as talented songsmiths such as Kevin Bowe, Guy Hans, and Boney Fields, the latter who also produced the recordings. This cool Kat definitely sings the Blues, but she’s also injected some Jazz and Rock influences as well as some funky horns into the mix; taking her music several steps beyond the Blues, reaching out to a much wider audience.

Throughout her career The Kat (born Katia Perrin) enjoyed singing a fusion of various - but related-atthe-roots - styles of music. In New York, in 1997, Kat had already performed with musicians from Buddy Miles’ band, and back in France, in 1999, Lucky Peterson invited her to join him on vocals for concerts in Montpelier, in Paris, and at the Bagnois Blues Festival. Later she performed with an eclectic number of musicians such as Bernard Allison, Ron Smyth, Jimmy Johnson, Tom Principato, Maceo Parker and Kenny Neal, and with her good friend Boney Fields. The Kat had first met Boney Fields at a release party for Bernard Allison’s 1996 album "Funkifino", on which Fields plays the trumpet. They became friends, regularly hooked up, and more than 15 years later, Fields agreed to arrange and produce the Kat’s debut album, "The Kat is Back In Town".
