Little is known about The Dirty Feel so far except for the fact that The Mighty Boosh have made reference to them and London based sixties and seventies rock and roll fans may have very well seen them on the gig circuit. The Dirty Feel have a close established following creating a firm stance in the modern bluesy rock scene before other bands were bringing it to the foreground again. The band name really does sell the music; The Dirty Feel gives an insight in to the music they create so any sexy, grinding and grooving rock and roll lovers will want to check this band out.

Truth Be Told is a nostalgic playlist of grooves and blues to shake and grind your hips to, it can create the perfect party album or the perfect chill out album. For a three piece they make one hell of an impact with jumping bass lines and solos, awesome guitar effects and riffs which create such an atmosphere and an amazing use of vocals. The album is raw as if you had just received it and listened to it back in the 1970’s; the opening track ‘Far Gone’ introduces the album with just solo guitar to warm the listener up before giving you everything they have in one swinging track that wants to get you dancing.

The pace picks up even further with the album title track ‘Truth Be Told’, a worthy track to title the album after. The album then enters a slightly trippy zone with the tracks which follow and with lyrics of freedom, soul and love they really do set a wonderful scene of what was once; it is like they are giving an amazing experience to a younger generation who were not around to experience this the first time around. The album picks up again at ‘Get Down’ before going into the catchy riff laden ‘Lovin’ You.’ The final track ‘Spanish Silver’ is probably the most experimental track on the album and a great way to end Truth Be Told too.

This has been a thoroughly enjoyable listen; it sits on that edge of chilling in a candle lit room and bringing out the inner podium dancer, quite frankly an important edge for this genre of music. As with many great bands they have suffered tragedies such as the loss of their singer back in 2012, so unfortunately if you haven’t seen them live already then that has been a missed opportunity, however you can still listen to them, so check out this album.
