Review from Allmusic:
Twenty years in the making, this video takes the world of the bizarre to new levels. Part one features "the Mothers" live on-stage in a 1968 performance at London Festival Hall. Footage portrays the struggle that bandmembers faced when trying to break away from the group to establish their own musical identities. Part two is the story of Uncle Meat, a strange character who eventually must choose between his love for music and his love for his wife.
The movie project was dropped due to lack of funds, although it was eventually released on home video for a short period, and then went out of print. I've seen a copy of it and it's a fairly bad combination of home movies of the Mothers of Invention, concert footage and a sub-b-grade monster movie. Don't go out of your way to track it down unless you're really fanatical about Zappa.
Weird ! There is nothing else that can be said about this movie. The scary part is that Zappa wasn't on drugs when he made this movie...he wasn't on drugs ever. But God. Highlights include the ingenue lead beating drummer Aynsley Dunbar with a toilet brush (at his request) in the grocery store, and Don Preston turning into a monster (which essentially translates into "making a strange face.") And really, was full frontal nudity of this man really necessary? One scene in the movie has Zappa gathering cast and crew together to deliver some bad news: "the movie's got a plot." You'd never be able to tell this from watching it. Other than a conglomeration of truly weird sexual activities, that is. If you go buy the album, you will find that nearly all of the film's dialogue is on the disc: it won't make any more sense, whether you hear the disc or watch the film. Promise.
