“Joel Owen & The Antoine Band - Roll Your Stone For Bluesy, boozy-dancing Big Band honky-tonk boogie and then some, this unashamedly retrospective project from Joel Owen & The Antoine Band engagingly hits all the right feel-good buttons. For someone who always infuriated his elder brothers for calling that iconic album cover from John Mayall & The Bluebreakers as ‘The Dandy album’ because of that up and coming whipper-snapper Eric Clapton laconically reading aforesaid tome, Roll Your Stone* sure rattles the chandeliers in this reviewer’s memory palaces. From an inexcusably young and damnably talented ensemble, this album is simply a joy-fest of honkin’ horn, moonshine-soaked piano and vintage valve cleansed guitar. Lonesome freight-train harmonicas twelve-bar rattle over tumbleweed haunted crossroads as slide-guitars weep a melancholy refrain ‘cos the man gone done lost his dawg and his wife has come a running on back home – how can a poor man stand such times and live?” — John Kennedy

Joel Owen & The Antoine Band are an original boogie and blues band from Leicester, UK. Brought together through a mutual love of the blues this exciting 6 piece band has carved its own distinctive and inventive style onto the back drop of the genre they admire.

Raucous, lively and inventive the band have forged a reputation for themselves around their hometown and the midlands. With acclaimed live performances at some of the midlands’ biggest festivals (Summer Sundae, Simon Says, Oxjam) they quickly became one of the must see bands on the scene. Bringing together fans of all ages they produce a sound which consciously harks back to an era of music driven by growling horns and boogie piano, whilst always looking forward and bringing their own characteristic flavour and interpretation to the blues.

Having released 2 limited edition 4-track EPs since their formation in 2011 the band have recently released their eagerly awaited debut album Roll Your Stone.
