Congi have built a huge following over the the last few years thanks to their solo work, remixes, and collaborations with fellow Chord Marauders, so it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that this, their debut album, has been hugely anticipated within the bass community

While dubstep is at the root of their sound, they've not allowed themselves to be constrained by the genre's trappings, and have been successful in creating their own sound within the landscape. The vibe is true to the foundational sound, as well. There's bass and space in abundance, the rhythms roll and swing; but it's pushing boundaries at the same time with inventive sampling and melodics.

There is a long list of adjectives that can be used to describe Congi's music, and most of them can be applied to Tidal Fragments, and for the people who like to categorise music, there will surely be debates over whether this is deep dubstep, post-dubstep, ambient dubstep, etc etc, but in truth it's beyond that granular level of categorisation, and pleasingly so.

As an album it works as a whole - it's programmed and structured beautifully, and can be listened to from end to end without feeling as though you need to skip anything or hit shuffle; and equally the majority of tracks also stand alone, and will see plenty of plays in DJ sets.

As well as the solo tracks, there are collaborations with Chord Marauders label mates B9, Jafu and Geode, and also with Fable; each bringing their own style to proceedings, and in doing so is as much a testament to the Chord Marauders family as it is Congi themselves.

This promises to be a big release for Congi and Chord Marauders, and also the wider deep bass music scene. A confident, optimistic and exciting album.
