Weaving her way through the trials and tribulations of life in Los Angeles,
Megan found inspiration to write her new country-soul record, Moving On.
The nine songs detail her journey through LA’s complex web of love and
life, and art and industry, in search of her dreams.
Megan teamed up with long time friend and producer, Dan Ubick, to record
in the unique artist community of Topanga Canyon. The drive up the long,
dark, winding roads to the studio week after week, echoed the recording
process. Each bend another layer, each turn another tune. This record not
only symbolizes the birth of a dream but literally is the beginning of a new
chapter in life.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Megan Jacobs, grew up listening to artists like
Diana Ross, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt. From early on, music
was always a driving force in her life. Megan has played on some of California’s
greatest stages, from Hollywood’s legendary Roxy Theatre to the North Beach
Jazz Festival.
Working with her publishers, Urband & Lazar, Megan’s licensed her music
to both TV and Film. You can hear “Still Alive” in Eddie Murphy’s 2012 feature
film, A Thousand Words, produced by Nicolas Cage. Similarly her song,
“Life is Precious”, co-written by Damon Aaron, was placed in the Paramount
Pictures film, No Strings Attached, featuring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher.
