Finally released in the true original artistic format, this collection stays true to the original albums. Previously they had been released in a variety of formats under different labels, and then large compositions. The first being, Birth of Brilliance 1963-1966 and then Brilliant From Birth, which was a better composite (both of these still considered collector's items). This compilation includes the original album covers of the first three albums, `The Bee Gees Sing & Play 14 Barry Gibb Songs', `Spicks and Specks' and `Turn Around, Look At Us', (which was actually released in early 1967 about the same time as Bee Gees 1st). The liner notes bare more information than from Brilliant From Birth, but the songs remain true to the original sequence, which are encased in a cardboard folder and each CD having its own cardboard sleeve.

Highlights of this collection are, 'Claustrophobia', 'Wine And Women' and 'I Was A Lover, A Leader Of Men' from 'The Bee Gees Sing & Play 14 Barry Gibb Songs'. From 'Spicks And Specks'; there is the title track single, 'Monday's Rain' (original version), 'How Many Birds' and 'Playdown' (a recent concert favorite from Barry). 'Turn Around, Look At Us' contains the famous Robin sung B-Side, 'I Am The World', 'Cherry Red' and 'The Battle of the Blue and the Grey'.

The remastering is noticeably better on all thirty-eight (38) songs than on any previous release, which is only befitting (particularly in Mono). Treating this collection as three individual CD's representing each album is true to the original form and a very important piece of music history is preserved. Each album is faithfully reproduced both front and back with the original type and photos. Glenn A. Baker provides extensive notes on each album's history with some interesting anecdotes. The only thing missing is the singles charts for each album. Regardless, this is about as good a reproduction of albums on CD as possible from Leedon, Festival and Spin Records.
