This recording of the legendary jazz personality Louis Armstrong performing in Paris during the latter part of his career still features a few of the trumpet salvos that made him famous. But mostly, Louis Armstrong is content to lend his distinctive vocalizations to favorites like "When It's Sleepy Time Down South" and "When I Grow Too Old to Dream," while his competent band takes over on contemporary-sounding versions of "Perdido" and "Lover Come Back to Me," the latter sung by the reliable Jewell Brown.

Recorded live at the Palais Des Sports, Paris, France on June 4, 1965. Includes liner notes by Alain Tercinet.

This is part of Verve's Jazz In Paris series.

Personnel: Louis Armstrong (vocals, trumpet); Jewell Brown (vocals); Tyree Glenn (trombone); Eddie Shu (clarinet); Billy Kyle (piano); Buddy Catlett (bass); Danny Barcelona (drums).
